curtain instead of cabinets

I got this great hutch from my grandparents garage. It needed some work but I thought it would make a darling addition to my country kitchen.

And once it was painted it did look perfect. But it needed cabinets...

Instead of cabinets I decided to sew some fabric to make curtains for the bottom instead of doors.

This was a simple project and didn't take anytime at all. I used an old tension rod to hand the curtains from on the inside of the hutch. I think it turned out quite nice. I do not have a video tutorial to share with you. This was simple just hem along the edges, then on the top side make a fold that is large enough for the tension rod to slide through the top. Simply sew a straight line and TADA....

Envelope Pillow Case Cover

I made these great pillow case covers for the shabby old pillows on my living room sofa.

The pillows weren't old and shabby.

They were actually in pretty good condition, but they didn't match the breezy summer theme I was going for in my living room.

Making these pillow case covers was an inexpensive and simple way to spruce up these boring pillows.

Here is an instructional tutorial that I used to help me with my project.

sew, what shall we do?

One of my favorite hobbies is to sew.

When I don't know what to do? I sew!

I am only a beginner but I am proud of some of the neat creations I have made with my trusty sewing machine.

With this blog I will share simple sewing skills.

I hope you find this blog to provide simple instructions to some easy sewing projects.
